HUBBARD – It was a journey that took a little over two hours, but the 1880s First Lutheran Church building was moved from a spot near the fire station to its new home, a specially prepared lot behind the Hubbard Historical Society, 117 S. Illinois St.
The building had been used as maintenance and storage shed by the fire department, but will now be restored and used as a museum at its new home. Much of the original structure is still visible and the Historical Society wants to preserve the heritage. The outside will be restored to its original condition.
