ELDORA – Robert Olmsted didn’t know why he was placed in special education classes as a child. He felt like he knew what was being taught, he just couldn’t get his thoughts in order when it came time to take a test.
“I couldn’t understand how to get my thoughts put on paper,” he said. “I’m more visual.”
Olmsted’s reading comprehension level was so low, he basically didn’t know how to read. “You don’t feel intelligent when you’re constantly failing exams,” he said.
