ELDORA – State Climatologist Justin Glisan said February was one of the top 10 coldest months on record, however the winds of change have blown in and he sees a strong signal for a La Nina weather pattern showing up and continuing this spring.
La Nina occurs over the Pacific Ocean when strong winds blow warm water over the ocean’s surface, meaning a warmer and drier weather pattern in the long term. “There’s a strong signal of a La Nina showing up,” Glisan said. “That means there’s a slight bias for temperatures being warmer than average.”
