Rebecca R. Turner
Rebecca R. Turner, 49, companion to Mike Pruitt of Soperton, passed away May 5, 2025 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.
Born in Iowa City, she was the eldest of three children, born to Roger Louis Bailey and Glenda Rae Keith Bailey. She grew up in Fort Wayne and Eldora where she attended Eldora New Providence High School. After high school, she obtained degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. While in high school, she worked at a well-known local ice cream shop, Snow Cream Ice Cream Shop, before later working with Eldora Manor Healthcare and Quality Products. Always searching for new adventures, Rebecca became a Team Truck Driver. The driver that she was originally pared with would become her husband and they would spend the next 25 driving “Over the Road”, logging countless miles. Rebecca later settled in Hazlehurst, Georgia in 2002 where she lived until coming to Soperton in 2020. After settling in Soperton, she worked in the Deli at the original Let Convenience Store.
Rebecca was free hearted, caring, loving and helpful to anyone in need or less fortunate than her. She loved Jesus and was proud of her Assembly of God and Pentecostal roots. She enjoyed reading her Bible and listening to gospel music. During her years of travel around the country, she developed an interest in crystals and their history. This interest developed into a collection from the most simple to crystal formations of great archeological significance.
Rebecca is preceded in death by: her former husband of twenty years, Stacey Turner; her former mother-in-law, Sharon Turner; paternal grandparents: Leonard and Gerturde Bailey; maternal grandparents: Cecil and Jennie Keith and maternal grandmother, Marie Cooper and uncles and aunts: Denny Keith, Larry Keith, Les Keith, Debbie Semmler and Barb Chicoine.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her companion, Mike Pruitt, of Soperton, Georgia; her parents: Roger and Glenda Bailey, of Perry; her sons: Lance Schaeffer, of Cedar Rapids, and Alex Lucke, of Iowa City; a daughter, Jessica, of Cedar Rapids; brothers: Paul David Bailey (Jennifer), of Iowa Falls, and Adam John Bailey (Eveny), of Marshalltown; several grandchildren; nephews: Tristan Bailey, of Marshalltown, and Chase Turner, of North Dakota; a goddaughter, Harley Lynn Taylor, of Soperton, Georgia, and several other nieces and nephews.
