Marlys Hansen

Marlys (Molly) Avonelle Hansen was born Oct. 5, 1925 to Wesley Leroy and Lucille Marie (Needham) Wilkie at her parents’

home in rural Hardin County. She attended country school and moved to Hubbard in 1938 to attend Hubbard High School,

graduating in 1942. Molly was united in marriage Aug. 1, 1943 to John Raymond Hansen at the Salem EUB Church in Hubbard.

Molly owned and operated Molly’s Beauty Salon and then The Hair Shack for 25 years. She was active in many civic activities, especially being an EMT and EMT-1 with the Hubbard Ambulance and teaching CPR to many of the area schools and residents and teaching EMT classes. She was a life-long member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed attending the different activities of her grandchildren and even a few of her great-grandchildren.

Molly passed away May 21, 2023 at the Hubbard Care Center.

She is survived by her four daughters, Cheri (Tom) Tjarks, Co., Jackie Dolan, Hubbard, Cindy (Richard) Mannetter, Hubbard, and Jeanine (Chuck) Ravenelle, NY, her sister-in-law Charlene Wilkie, Alden, 10 grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many other friends and relatives. She was proceeded in death by John, her loving husband of 50 years, her parents Wesley and Lucille Wilkie, her brothers Leonard Wilkie and Merle Wilkie and sisters Eunice Chaplin and Beverly Chaplin.

Her Celebration of Life will be June 16 at the Hubbard Arboretum at 2 p.m.
