Carol Jean Halsey

Carol Jean Halsey, 88, of Eldora, Iowa, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at Eldora Specialty Care in Eldora. Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held for Bud and Carol at a later date in the summer of 2022. Anderson Funeral Homes of Marshalltown, Iowa, has been entrusted with the arrangements. Carol was born and raised in Fairfield, Iowa. She married her high school sweetheart, Laurin "Bud" Halsey on Sept. 17, 1950. They had three children, Sherry Hagen, Crawford, Neb.; Mark (Patti) Halsey, Eldora, Iowa; and Trish (Wendell) Wingrove, Chickasaw, Ala. They have nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Carol’s life was dedicated to her husband, children and family. She was soft spoken and a true lady, but also known for her "out of the blue" ornery streak. According to grandchildren and great-grandchildren, no one could make pancakes like “little grandma.” She loved crafting, crocheting, reading and dancing with Bud. They owned Mr. B's and Mode O’ Day during 1973-1979, both former Eldora Businesses. They loved to travel and visit family in Arizona and California.
