Betty Jane Gethman

Betty Jane Gethman, 64, of Eldora, Iowa, passed away unexpectantly on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, due to complications of COVID-19.

Following Betty’s wishes, there will be private family services held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed in Betty’s name to her family which will be later designated elsewhere. Betty Jane Crandall was born on July 30, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Larry and Clara (Aswegan) Crandall. Betty graduated from Eldora-New Providence High School with the class of 1975. She was a very hard-working woman dedicating her working career with the United States Postal Service. She worked her way up to becoming the Postmaster in Steamboat Rock for years. Betty was united in marriage to John Gethman up until her final breath. The couple enjoyed spending time together and with their family making memories. Betty also really enjoyed watching her granddaughters play softball, listening to her grandson, Justin talk about his hunting adventures and crocheting.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, John Gethman; children: John (Nicole) Gethman, Becky (Brian) Rosonke and Michael Gethman; grandchildren: Hailey Rosonke, Charlee Rosonke, Rachel Rosonke and Justin Gethman; siblings: Bonnie Jones, Brenda Crandall, Barb Crandall and Larry Crandall

She is preceded in death by her parents: Pat and Clara Lawler and biological father, Larry Crandall.
