Marilyn Bachman

Marilyn Lee Bachman, 91, of Conrad, passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2023 at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad.

Funeral services for Marilyn were set for Friday, Oct. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the Whitten Community Church in Whitten with visitation Thursday, Oct. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Marilyn Lee Cain was born Oct. 5, 1932 in Iowa City to Henry and Ruth (Kinnaird) Cain. She graduated from Beaman High School in 1951. Marilyn was united in marriage Jan. 1, 1952 to Wayne “Gene” Bachman. Marilyn had previously worked as a pre-school teacher, school bus driver, waitress and a Sunday school teacher, but more importantly she was a mother, grandmother and a great-grandmother. Marilyn was a member of the Whitten Community Church and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed gardening and keeping a beautiful yard. Marilyn also enjoyed shopping and hosting foreign farm students. She will be lovingly remembered for her generosity and being a caregiver.

Marilyn is survived by her children: Taryn Bachman, of Birmingham; Bruce (Jan) Bachman, of Marshalltown; Deb (Mike) Leimbacher, of Whitten; Darla Bachman, of Des Moines, and Dennis (Rosa Lea) Bachman, of Bloomer, Wisconsin. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and her sister: Shirley Ramundt, of Reinbeck; sisters-in-law: Jeanne Cain and Jane Bachman and brother-in-law: Roger Ziesman

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Wayne “Gene,” parents: Henry and Ruth and siblings: Virtus Ramundt, Sharon Ziesman and Dean Cain.
