Kay Marsh, 76, of Ames, formerly of Union, passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2024 at Bickford Cottage in Ames.

Visitation was set for Friday, Jan. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church in New Providence with services Saturday, Jan. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church, New Providence, with burial in the Honey Creek Cemetery.

Kamella Kay (Shoen) Marsh was born Oct. 21,1947, to Harold and Della (Dalin) Shoen in Ames. Kay attended the Ames School System, graduating from Ames High School in 1967.  She graduated from Bernell’s Beauty School and worked in cosmetology for a few years. She worked in nursing homes for most of her working life taking care of the elderly.

Kay was overcome by the ravages of Alzheimer’s Disease. She was cared for at home and then was in residence at Bickford of Ames under the care of Gentiva Hospice when she went to her maker.

Kay was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her favorite thing was spending time with family and friends. She was a little different in that she actually enjoyed keeping her house clean.  

Kay is survived by her husband, Howard (Howie) of Ames; son Brian Marsh of Ames; daughter Lori Stratton (Scott) of Ankeny; brother Ernie Shoen (Judy) of Cambridge; her grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.
