Karen Kay Aldinger

Karen Kay Aldinger, 80, of The Colony, Texas, passed away on Dec. 15, 2022.

She was born in Eldora, Iowa, Jan. 12, 1942. Her parents were Martin and Dora Struck. Karen attended Eldora High School, graduating in 1960. She was united in marriage to Dale Aldinger on March 9, 1963.

Karen and Dale farmed on the Aldinger ancestral farm for 23 years before moving to the Dallas, Texas, area. Karen enjoyed the farm, she was an excellent cook and baker. She was very involved in her children’s upbringing and school activities. She sewed, embroidered, and loved to crochet. Karen was a member of the neighborhood Birthday Club. She raised a garden every year and canned fruits and vegetables for the family. Her children carry on the many things passed down from their mother.

Upon moving to the Dallas area, Karen took on new roles, including working as a dental assistant, as well as running the office, for the oral surgeon practice of Gaither and Pavelka. While in Dallas, Karen and Dale were members of a local motorcycle club and they traveled through many states, enjoying their friends and seeing the sites. They also made several trips back to Iowa to visit family and friends. Karen retired after 21 years with Gaither & Pavelka. During her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Karen is survived by her husband, Dale Aldinger and her children, Brenda Aldinger and husband Albert Brouwer of Wichita, Kan.; Lori Aldinger, of The Colony, Texas; Tammy Robinson and husband Donnie of The Colony, Texas; and two grandchildren Haley and Wyatt. She was preceded in death by her brother, Darrell Struck of Ackley, Iowa; and a sister Connie Struck of New Providence, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
