Jerry Freese

Jerry D. (Frosty) Freese, of Eldora, Iowa, passed away in his home on May 17, 2024, due to natural causes.

His journey began on January 2, 1954, in Grundy Center, Iowa, where he was born to John and Lena (Harms) Freese. He grew up surrounded by love and support from his two sisters and the close-knit community of Eldora, where he graduated from high school in 1972.

He married Sandra Coffman in 1984, and they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Abby & Kelly. The couple eventually divorced.

He later remarried Kimberly Clemenson August 10, 2013 and gained two daughters by marriage, Kierstyn and Peyton.

Frosty dedicated over a decade of his life to the boys at Eldora State Training School, leaving behind a legacy of hope and positivity in 2018.

With a keen eye for detail and a love for woodworking, Frosty became part owner of Alley Antiques in Eldora transforming ordinary pieces of furniture into stunning works of art. His enthusiasm for antiques and bargain-hunting at flea markets and auctions was infectious, inspiring others to appreciate the beauty in the old and forgotten.

His zest for life was contagious, and his natural ability to make others laugh and feel good was a true gift. He enjoyed his mornings being out for coffee with the guys at Ahoy Fountain, then later Hyvee. He had a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand and bring a smile to those around him. His presence brightened the world, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Clemenson-Freese of Eldora, his in-laws, Gary & Sharon Clemenson, Spokane, WA, daughters Abby Freese (Louis Swaka), of Tiffin, IA, Kelly (Andy) Ewoldt, of Grundy Center, IA, Kierstyn Anest (Zach Freese) Aplington, IA, Peyton Schatz, Cedar Falls, Ia.

His grandchildren, Savannah, Kennedy, Quinn, Sule, Wani, Kasyn, Parker, Bradley and Brady.

His sister JoAnn (James) Kadolph, Eldora, IA, and his special nephew Jeff Nott, several nieces, nephews, & cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Lena Freese, his paternal & maternal grandparents, his sister, Joyce Nott, & his nephew's wife, Donna (Erger) Nott.

Services were held on Saturday May 25, 2024.
