Zeisneiss state champion

 

DES MOINES- Senior Brylie Zeisneiss of South Hardin made it back-to-back state championships in the Class 2A shot put, winning the field event at the Iowa High School State Track & Field Championships here Thursday morning.

Zeisneiss defended her title with a winning throw of 46-feet 5-inches. She was the 2A gold medalist as a junior with a winning throw of 45-feet-1.

Zeisneiss ended a four-time medal winner in the shot put, finishing fourth as a sophomore and sixth as a freshman.

After she scratched on the first throw in prelims, any of Zeisneiss’ next five throws would have won the event, going 45-9 and 45-5 1/2 in the prelims, and then 46-2 1/2, 45-2 1/4 and 46-5 in the finals. The runner-up was Tipton’s Jamie Kofron at 42-11.
