Work to be done in the park

PINE LAKE – The Friends of Pine Lake State Park group plans to ramp up their contribution to efforts to control invasive plant species in the state park. The volunteer group notes that the presence of invasive species is nothing new that the staff and volunteers have been battling them for years, but a new emphasis is being brought to the effort.

The plants, which are not native to this area or the park, establish themselves and grow so prolifically they outcompete the native species like oaks and woodland wild flowers.
