Tigers net 58-42 win over Spartans

ELDORA- Seniors Cade Spieker and Jacob Vander Wilt provided a potent inside-outside punch to propel the South Hardin boys’ basketball team to a 58-42 victory over Grundy Center here Thursday during North Iowa Cedar League West Conference play.

Spieker and Vander Wilt netted a combined 29 points as Spieker scored a game-high 18 and Vander Wilt tacked on 11 with three treys.

The Tigers, 6-4 overall, completed the first tour around the league at 4-2 behind a strong middle 16-minutes. The hosts outscored the Spartans, 36-21 between the two quarters – first 18-12 in the second to take a 27-20 advantage to halftime and then 18-9 in the third, stretching the cushion to 45-29.
