Tigers again come up short

ELDORA- It continues to be that two steps forward and one step back type of season for the South Hardin football team.

That one step back has been a big one, and so far hard to overcome as the Tigers were beaten by Hampton-Dumont, 25-12 here Friday.

For a second straight week the contest was decided in the fourth quarter and South Hardin didn’t meet the challenge. After pulling within one 13-12 early in the fourth, the Tigers crumbled down the stretch, tumbling to 0-3.

Senior running back Dustin Miller was a one-man show for Hampton-Dumont, scoring all four touchdowns for the visitors, including a pair of short runs in the fourth quarter to seal the deal. The win was the Bulldogs’ first to stand 1-2.

“It was a pretty dead heat type of game and they made a few more plays,” stated South Hardin head coach Nick Eller.

“I can’t fault our guys, they played hard and took some steps forward and a couple back. We just have to keep working and get better each week,” Eller added.

After South Hardin climbed within one (13-12), the Bulldogs answered going 65-yards in six plays capped by a Miller two-yard dive. The drive’s big play was a 49-yard pass from Bryan Flores to Miller.
