Supervisors approve top-secret “Project Thomas” resolution

The Hardin County Supervisors unanimously approved a motion of support for “Project Thomas” during last Wednesday’s regular meeting, but not before two of the most persistent critics and thorns in the board’s side had time to inquire about the prospective economic development agreement with a yet-to- be-named company.

“It just seems uncomfortable to have a totally secret project,” Julie Duhn of Eldora said. “The citizens have no right to know anything.”

Iowa Falls Area Development Corporation Director Cindy Litwiller explained that the unidentified developer is “very interested” in Hardin County and that the project would be a “huge benefit” to the entire region. “When you’re working in the business world, you have to protect a certain amount of information before it’s ready to come before a board or the public,” she said.
