Steamboat Rock man dies in accident

 

A Steamboat Rock man was killed in an ATV accident Friday night just outside that community.

Authorities say Lindsay M. Stupp, 32, of Steamboat Rock, Iowa died Friday, May 12, 2017 from injuries resulting from an ATV accident near Steamboat Rock, on private property along what is referred to as the River Road on the west side of the Iowa River in the community area.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s office said it was called about 11:30 Friday night.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Steamboat Rock Baptist Church with Pastor Harrison Lippert officiating. Burial will follow in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Iowa Army National Guard Honor Guard. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Steamboat Rock Baptist Church. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is making arrangements.

Lindsay Stupp attended school at Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock School until the 8th grade and then attended Eldora New Providence Community Schools where he graduated in 2002. Following his education, he entered the Iowa Army National Guard and was deployed twice to Afghanistan and once to Iraq with Charlie Co. 133rd Infantry Unit. He served honorably for the past 15 years and had made the rank of Staff Sergeant. Lindsay was an electrician at Iowa Central Electric in Alden.

Survivors include his fiancé, Brittaney Petersen and daughter, Teagan Stupp; parents, John and Cheryl Stupp; brother, Ryan (Jami) Stupp all of Steamboat Rock, IA; sister, Jodie (Spencer) Schmidt of Cedar Falls, IA; nephews, Mathias, Malachi, Joshua, Gavin and Nolan; and his grandfather, Jack Crosser also of Steamboat Rock.
