Red Army: Diamonds showcase entire vintage tractor collection one last time

Collecting vintage tractors has become a multigenerational ritual in the Diamond family, and last week, brothers Don and Dave, who farm next to each other in western Grundy County between Conrad, Grundy Center and Eldora, pulled all 33 of them out for a group photo and display.

“It’s been one or two (new ones) every year on and off for years,” Dave said.

The one detail any observer is certain to notice almost instantly is that all of the tractors are the same color—whether they’re Farmall, International or Case IH, you won’t see green or blue along the line. And much to either the delight or the chagrin of Dave’s son Tim, who now farms north of Wellsburg, they just keep accumulating.

“I don’t have enough room for them,” he joked.
