Park may be open most of summer

ELDORA – Would you believe it? The recent federal shutdown might still prove a stroke of luck for Eldora’s business community.

It seems the shutdown slowed work on processing grants from the federal government, which were targeted to underwrite numerous improvements in Pine Lake State Park and adjacent areas this coming summer.

The effect is that the construction season is delayed somewhat for 2019, and that means that as things stand now, it looks like the campground will remain open and unimpeded until about September 3. That gives the camp pretty much a full season and should make merchants who benefit from the crowds a little happier about their prospects for the coming summer.
