Landmarks down in Ackley

HARDIN COUNTY – You have to go back a few years, and it helps if you have memories of Friday nights in the 50’s when even small towns like Eldora and Ackley had a little bit of Las Vegas going on on Main Street. It helps to have a sweet tooth, too, a sweet tooth prompts memories, for a lot of locals, of Marv and Jean Walters who farmed near Eldora for a little while but made their name moving to Ackley and getting into the ice cream and all sorts of restaurant and confectionery business – buying the once long ago Knights ice cream and starting a line of eateries which became community landmarks.(Read it all in the Tuesday Ledger)
