Graduation time

The world being what it is, it might be the most important class they take.

It was graduation day in the E-NP Elementary School, for scores of youngsters who have been attending DARE sessions with sheriff’s deputy JD Holmes.

DARE began way back in the early 1980s, out in Los Angeles, when the police department there was desperate to find some way to reach out to kids – and initially – keep them off drugs. Since that time, DARE has evolved to help children say no to a host of situations involving drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and violence to name a few. The project came here back in the 1980s, too.

Holmes has been the face of it for years and today a few of his first students could be about to send their own kids to DARE.
