Fire department nears move

Fire chief Dave Lloyd says it turned into something of a community project, the huge remodel and update to the soon-to-be-new home of the department.

Lots of businesses have furnished man hours and material to help the fire crew finish the station interior.

Lloyd said one recent example involved the new owners of Whink Products, Rust-Oleum, which donated about $13,000 in specal floor sealer to the cause.

Lloyd said the department hopes to have an open house in May, but will actually be moved in much sooner.

Lloyd says the work is just a little behind schedule, but he told the city council last week that the department fully expects to be moving in in early March.

The whole move won’t be overnight, but he indicated the department should be operating out of the new station relatively soon.
