Cougars beaten 1-0 in regional final

   ACKLEY- Tears were flowing, only there was no celebrating for the AGWSR softball team here Monday.

   A single run in the first inning lifted Algona Garrigan over the Cougars, 1-0 during the Class 1A, Region 8 final.

   Garrigan displayed the tears of joy, while AGWSR was left with tears of disappointment and thoughts of what-if.

   A state tournament berth awaited the winner between the No. 6 Cougars and ninth-ranked Golden Bears. AGWSR had eliminated Garrigan in the regional semi-finals (3-0) a year ago and later ended the 1A state runners-up.
