Big boost to veteran project

ELDORA – The Shopko Foundation recently contributed $1,500 toward the Eldora Veteran Memorial project. The memorial project is making a push to raise the remaining funds which will make possible a Memorial Day opening at the site in what is now Memorial Park on the city’s east side.

The project has been under way for a couple of years and has already collected the names of about 1,500 veterans who have an Eldora tie,  either by birth, hometown, or burial site. The plan is to etch the veteran’s names on granite tablets surrounding a plaza focal point. The project is being undertaken by donation alone, and none of the veteran’s or their families will bear the cost of the project (Read it all in the Friday INdex)
