BCLUW girls NICL West champions

ELDORA- A four team race to the finish line ended in favor of the BCLUW girls’ track & field team, capturing the North Iowa Cedar League West Conference crown here Thursday.

The Comets collected 119 points to edge Grundy Center at 116 and three-time defending champ West Marshall at 115.5 for the team title, while East Marshall was fourth at 101.5.

“Very proud of the girls,” stated BCLUW coach Dusty Grothoff. “They were a little nervous yesterday at practice, but they pulled through. I had it figured out to be a close team race and it was. Just shows every placing counts.”

The AGWSR girls finished fifth, scoring 71 points and South Hardin sixth with 59.

Seniors Aubrie Fisher of AGWSR and East Marshall’s Melinda Puumala were named co-Outstanding Performers. Grothoff was picked the Coach-of-the-Year. The team title was BCLUW’s fourth of the spring.
