SOUTH HARDIN – Yes, it’s an academic sort of super bowl, but very deliberately, not a collection of dream teams. 

The Iowa Academic Decathlon isn’t exclusive to the bests of the class, in fact there is a very deliberate effort to come up with a mix of kids – each of whom volunteered for the project – then prep them rigorously and then pit them against their peers from high schools all around the state.

In the series of decathlon meets, they face off against  a battery of tests, interviews, game show-like question and answer match ups, and finish off  with some extemporaneous speech.(READ THE REST IN THE FRIDAY INDEX0
